Workington Town Centre Redevelopment

Workington is a major employment centre in West Cumbria. In addition to the offices of Allerdale Borough Council, Workington has a diverse range of employers including chemical and engineering.

Workington is the centre of a major investment programme worth £70m and ranging from regeneration programmes, highway and access improvements, environmental improvements to the harbour, a new hospital, police station, a further education college (Lakes College West Cumbria) and new business centres (e.g. the Lillyhall Direct Development Centre).

This major project sheet concentrates upon the significant retail and construction sector opportunities that are expected to come as a result of the main town centre redevelopment and its centre piece - "Washington Square". The town centre is to be fully redeveloped bringing new retail, leisure and hospitality business and job opportunities to the area.
