Central Park, Manchester
Central Park is one of the designated Strategic Regional Sites in the Regional Economic Strategy formerly known as North Manchester Business Park. The Park represents a major employment opportunity within New East Manchester.
Phase one (90 acres) will be developed within the next 10 years. It is anticipated that it will generate 4,600 jobs in the ICT and knowledge based sectors, and in other types of commercial enterprises attracted to the Park including hotels, conference facilities and commercial offices. It is also expected that high technology businesses will be attracted to the Park.
There is provision in Phase One for significant science, enterprise and learning centre space and a dedicated MSEC/MANCAT facility being developed in association with MSEC – the three Manchester – based universities – and the Manchester College. In five to ten years the business park is expected to cover 160 hectares, making it the major employment base in the Manchester conurbation.
