Bursaries
If you study full-time at one of the six long-term residential colleges in England, Scotland and Wales you may qualify for a bursary. These bursaries cover tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs and other allowances. The part covering living expenses is means-tested.
You need to be 20 or over by the start of the academic year of your course.
You may also be entitled to Disabled Students' Allowance, the dependants' grant, and the two homes grant.
There are different arrangements for studying in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. You can get further information in a leaflet called Adult Education Bursaries. Call Ruskin College on 01865 556360 for a copy.
Asylum seekers
Asylum seekers can find out which funding they qualify for by visiting the Refugee Council website or by phoning 020 7346 6777.
Trade unions
If you're in a trade union, ask them about possible funding - they each have their own rules about who qualifies.
